Hearing Tests

Getting your hearing tested is really important for your overall well-being. Sometimes, when you have trouble understanding conversations, keep asking people to repeat themselves, or need to turn up the volume a lot, it could mean you have hearing loss. This can make talking to others and being part of things hard. If we catch these signs early, we can stop things like feeling alone or having trouble thinking. At Vegas Valley Hearing, we know how important it is to test your hearing. Our team of experts is knowledgeable and well-versed in the hearing testing process. Our goal is to help reconnect you with the sounds of your life through advanced and personalized solutions.

Why Hearing Tests Matter

The general purpose of the hearing tests we run isn’t just to determine whether you have hearing loss or not. The results from your evaluation will also give us insight into the best course of action for treating the hearing condition you’re experiencing. For example, your hearing test can tell us whether you struggle to understand words at high or low frequencies. That way, we know how to fine-tune whatever hearing devices you end up ordering to meet your exact needs.

The net result is that you end up with a more personalized hearing solution after your hearing evaluation is over. That way, you get to experience the world’s sounds more consistently, comfortably and naturally than you would with a generic hearing solution.

What to Expect During Your Hearing Evaluation

Our hearing evaluations can take up to one hour to complete. That’s because we may run several tests depending on your initial results. Doing this will give us a more comprehensive picture of where your hearing strengths and weaknesses lie.

During your hearing evaluation, you will also have an opportunity to review test results with a hearing professional and ask any questions you may have about them. We recommend bringing a family member with you to help you understand your test results and ask the right questions about your unique hearing health situation.

Once we’ve completed your hearing tests and have your results, we may make a recommendation for hearing aids. If so, you’ll have the chance to discuss your options with your hearing professional. We’ll also talk about the different hearing aid styles and technologies available to you, including in-the-canal, in-the-ear and behind-the-ear options.

Your initial hearing evaluation is also an opportunity to start building a relationship with your hearing health team. We’re always happy to answer as many questions as you may have for us. We want you to be an active participant in your hearing solution and this appointment is a good chance to get started with that.
